The big news in town continues to be the highway construction which has route 1 bypassing the downtown area. The downtown area has just a few stores, and includes a terrific hardware store that has been in business for years. Local residents are likely to continue to support the hardware store, which also sells grain, as they always have.
Although there are many horse farms here in horse country which are excellent pieces of real estate, with some horse farms many would consider mansions, it is the Troubled Horse Center that is known by the locals and many people from all across America as The Farm. THC is actually located in the Lobelia area of Vass, North Carolina.
